Our members come from many different backgrounds and have diverse writing experiences. Some have had short stories, poems, letters or articles published in magazines, whilst several have novels or non-fiction books to their credit.
We also have members who still aspire to publication, as well as those who are happy to write just for themselves and family or friends. Additionally some members have won writing awards or been placed in major competitions.
As well as our regular meetings, we have run successful charity quiz evenings, published Strandline, our anthology of members’ work, and produced Diamonds: A Collection of Childhood Memories, a charity anthology to celebrate our Diamond Anniversary in 2007. Diamonds raised over £3,000 for three charities helping children. It was also recorded by the RNIB for their Talking Book library for visually-impaired people all over the country to enjoy. Additionally, we produce our own newsletter at regular intervals.
